Peace In The Middle Of The Storm

by LESLIE LAI

Shalom Brother and Sister in Christ. I want to share my personal testimony with you all on praying in tongues. During the Covid pandemic from 2020 to 2021, I  joined the prayer group hosted by Elder Paul. It was also during that time, I increased the  frequency of praying in tongues: Around 30 minutes, 1 hour or even more.

I would be feeling pressure from others at work: Being concerned with situations and getting pressured and scolded by my boss. In these times when prayed in tongues, God shifted me away from a negative mindset and cushioned me from the hurt that I was thrown at me during work. It was as if the mind was set free of worries despite the ever present pressure. You simply was not too bothered by it. Even during  moments of being pressured or being scolded by the boss, there was peace inside that just cushioned the whole thing. You really didn't feel too hurt from it.

I remember when I was going through an audit: I had to answer for some extra things to the auditor and our audit coordinator felt I shouldn't have answered as such. But I felt peace inside me that said everything was going to be alright.

By the end of the day, I was able to find the needed information to satisfactorily backup the answer that I had gave to the auditor. I was totally at at peace though out this process. It was strange: Like peace in the middle of the raging storm.

These days, the world uses the word, “healing” a lot. But I believe praying in tongues and reading the word is where you find the real “healing”. You can’t get this peace anywhere else in the world: Not in vacations, playing games or watching movies & drama. This is because there is a spiritual warfare going on in our minds. It's only through the things of the spirit we can win this warfare and break free from whatever worries and pressure that is coming to us.

Now, it might seems like praying in tongues or attending prayer group is a boring, tedious and doesn’t achieve anything. But I assure you, there is something there! It simply requires consistency. On the surface, is dry and boring: Why spend 1 hour doing nothing and just praying in tongues? But I assure you there is a process going on! And with consistency, you will reap the fruits of it! I am just like you, facing distractions from a lot of things from our carnal flesh. But we simply need to deny the lust of our flesh. Amen!
