God and mankind are fully reconciled in Jesus Christ by not having their trespasses imputed to them. The completed work of Jesus on the cross offers to everyone who will believe in Him forgiveness and righteousness. This finished work releases to every believer the blessing of Abraham whom God called a friend. The gospel gets better still.
Elder Edward poses a question about how the church responds to trials and tribulations: How everyone faces hardships— whether health crises, loneliness, or loss—and acknowledges that trials are inevitable for all, regardless of status or faith maturity.
Drawing from Scripture, including Jesus’ words in John 16:33 and James 1:2–4, he explains that trials are not meant to destroy believers but to shape them, producing perseverance, character, and deeper faith. He emphasizes that faith is easy on the mountaintop but truly tested in the valley or the pit.
Elder Edward further points to biblical examples such as Joseph, David, and Job, who endured severe trials yet trusted God’s plan, affirming that hardships serve a divine purpose to refine and strengthen faith.
